Bill Ohlandt’s Journey of Hope

Cancer survivor Bill Ohlandt concludes his 300-mile bike trek from Atlanta to Charleston at The Citadel’s Summerall Chapel on Wednesday, June 2, 1999 at 11:30 a.m. The ride was dedicated to raising money for charity and raising community awareness of those who struggle with cancer. Pledges will be used to build the Gunner and Dottie Ohlandt Endowment (named after Bill’s parents) at The Community Foundation, as well as the Gunner Ohlandt Student Athlete Scholarship at The Citadel’s Brigadier Foundation.

Bill, the son of Citadel athlete Gunner Ohlandt named the 300-mile bike trip "the ride for Gunner" in honor of his father. With this bike ride to honor his father’s dedication, Bill wishes to give hope and inspiration to all who are struggling against this disease.
