CHARLESTON, S.C. (Mar. 5)--The largest and most comprehensive conference on regional politics in the country will kick off on Thursday at The Citadel.
The tenth biennial Symposium on Southern Politics, sponsored by the Department of Political Science at the military college, will be led by some of the nation's leading political researchers. The conference offers two days of presentations and discussions of research and writings and will bring together professors and political activitists from 45 colleges and universities in 19 states.
The program is organized into 15 panels of scholarly presentation with topics that include "Voting Rights Issues," "Gender Issues in Southern Politics," "Race, Campaigns, and Elections," and "Preachers in Southern Politics."
Registration for the symposium will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 7, in Mark Clark Hall Auditorium. The registration fee is $15 per person and
