WRITER TO SPEAK TO THE DANIEL LIBRARY FRIENDS

CHARLESTON, S.C. (March 27)--The Citadel's Daniel Library will host its first Library Friends Lecture Monday, April 8th, at 7 p.m. in Bond Hall's Wachovia Auditorium on The Citadel campus. Noted historian and novelist Dr. Richard Marius will speak on "Libraries in the Life of the Mind." The lecture is free and open to the public.

Dr. Marius, a biographer of Martin Luther and Thomas More, is the former director of Harvard University's Center for Expository Writing. A native of East Tennessee, he has used that region as the background for three novels. He is currently adapting his first novel, The Coming of Rain, into a play for the Alabama Shakespeare Festival.

The Daniel Library Friends organization was formed earlier this year in an effort to bring together book enthusiasts and promote the importance of libraries to communities.
