CHARLESTON, SC (Jan. 12)--Colonel Charles K. Flint III, USA, Retired, has been named Vice President for Institutional Advancement at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. As one of The Citadel's four vice presidents, Col. Flint will oversee the offices of Public Relations, Development, Governmental Relations, Alumni Affairs and Career Services.
Col. Flint brings more than ten years of university development experience to the new Vice President for Institutional Advancement position. For five years he directed the U.S. Military Academy's Advancement programs. Prior to assuming his post at The Citadel, he served an additional five years as Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.
A native of Longview, Texas, Col. Flint served for two years as an assistant professor of military science at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and went on to direct seminars for the U.S. Army Combined Arms and Services Staff School at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. During his military service he was awarded the Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Bronze Star. He earned a bachelor's degree from the U.S. Military Academy in 1964, and a master's degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1974.
Col. Flint and his wife Patricia have a son, Charles, who lives in
Indiana and a daughter, Tammara, who lives in New York.
