CHARLESTON, SC (April 1)--Five hundred area middle and high school students will participate in the Lowcountry Engineering Fair held at The Citadel on Wednesday, April 3. The fair is being organized by The Citadel, the Charleston Engineers Joint Council, and members of the Charleston Metro Technological Education Coalition for the purpose of encouraging lowcountry students to pursue engineering or technical careers.
"The future improvement of the economy and quality of life in the Lowcountry depends on these students' ongoing as well as future development," said Col. Charles Lindbergh, Associate Dean of Engineering Program Development at The Citadel.
Beginning at 9 a.m. in Mark Clark Hall the students will take part in three major programs titled "What's Engineering?," "Doing Engineering with the Engineers," and "Where Engineers Work." Several industrial displays will also be set up for the students to observe.
Student engineers from Clemson, College of Charleston, SC State, The Citadel, Trident Technical College, and USC will help provide instruction
during the four-hour Fair.
