CHARLESTON, S.C. (April 1)--General J. H. Binford Peay III, Commander in Chief, United States Central Command, will speak at The Citadel on Friday, April 5, as part of the college's Greater Issues Series. The address will begin at 2:15 p.m. in McAlister Field House and is free and open to the public. Following his address, General Peay will be honored at the Corps of Cadets' full-dress parade scheduled at 3:45 p.m.
General Peay, a 1962 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, assumed command of the 101st Airborne Division in 1989 and led the Division throughout Operation Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf. In March of 1993, Peay was promoted to the rank of General and appointed the 24th Vice Chief of Staff of the United States Army. He assumed his current position as Commander in Chief, United States Central Command, at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida on August of 1994.

leaders to address the Corps of Cadets concerning the national and international issues that are shaping the United States and the world.
