Eminent Historian Accepts Visiting Professorship
The
Citadel is pleased to announce the appointment of Emory M. Thomas
as its Mark W. Clark Distinguished Visiting
Professor of History for the spring semester of the 1999-2000
academic year.
Professor Thomas is a native of Richmond, Virginia. He received his B.A. from the University of Virginia and his Ph.D. from Rice University. Since 1987, he has held the permanent position of Regents Professor of History at the University of Georgia. A nationally acclaimed historian of the American South and the Civil War era, Professor Thomas's books include The Confederate State of Richmond: A Biography of the Capital; The Confederacy as a Revolutionary Experience; The American War and Peace, 1860-1877; The Confederate Nation, 1861-1865; Bold Dragoon: The Life of J.E.B. Stuart; and Robert E. Lee: A Biography.
