| FOR RELEASE April 3, 2000 On Friday, April 14, The Citadel physics department will host a Rocket Day event for 60 fifth grade children from Sullivan's Island Elementary School. At 10:15 a.m in Grimsley Hall Auditorium, Colonel Joel Berlinghieri will explain the principles which govern rocket flight, illustrating Newton's laws of inertia, force, action, and reaction with air tracks, vacuum cleaners, balloons, and CO2 cartridges followed by a film about rocket propulsion and satellite motion. Students, assisted by physics cadets, will launch their model rockets beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Summerall Field. |
