The Citadel Receives $10,000 Contribution from Lucent Technologies with Support from NewSouth Communications

Citadel receives $10,000 from Lucent Technologies with help from NewSouth Communications          The Citadel received a $10,000 donation from Lucent Technologies during a presentation held at NewSouth Communications in Greenville, SC, on May 28. The gift will be used to provide a scholarship for a well-qualified female or minority student with a civil engineering major. Lucent Technologies with support from one of its key customers, NewSouth Communications, a South Carolina-based Integrated Communications Provider, presented the check to Citadel representative Vice Chairman Emeritus of The Citadel Board of Visitors, Colonel Thomas C. Vandiver, Citadel Class of 1929.

          "Lucent Technologies is pleased to contribute $10,000 to The Citadel, one of the nations pre-eminent institutions," said Donnie Reynolds, Business Development Manager for Lucent. "Diversity and the search for talent are top priorities for Lucent, so we are always looking for magnets to attract more women and minorities to science and engineering," Reynolds said, "and The Citadel is a wonderful magnet for Lucent and other high-tech companies."
