Captain John C. Kuzenski, Ph.D., of The Citadel political science department has been named the Pi Sigma Alpha Best Chapter Advisor. Pi Sigma Alpha is the national political science honor society.
Kuzenski attributed his success to the cadet members of Pi Sigma Alpha: "It was through the efforts of the cadets that my recognition was possible; it was their esprit de corps that makes Pi Sigma Alpha an enviable and constructive presence on The Citadels campus."
The Citadel Beta Iota chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, which was established in 1951, has maintained a high profile in the Lowcountry community, participating in a myriad of philanthropies, including the Burke High School Library Book Drive. During the 1998-99 academic year, the chapter also hosted a political science graduate school and career opportunities symposium, coded the City of Charlestons Citizens Survey for the citys Department of Planning and Urban Development, and sponsored the visit of Governor Hodges to a political science class and inducted him as an honorary member to the society.
As Best Chapter Advisor, Kuzenski was awarded a $1000 prize and a certificate of recognition.
