Citadel Civil Engineering Cadets are Finalists for National Award


          CHARLESTON, S.C.--The Citadel chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) was one of eight national finalists nominated for the most outstanding student chapter. The Robert Ridgway Student Chapter Award is presented annually to the best ASCE student chapter organization in the nation. In recognition of their efforts, The Citadel ASCE student chapter will receive a Certificate of Commendation.

          The Citadel was also one of eight schools receiving an Outstanding Community Service Award based on the chapter's extensive work on the Detmold Base Line Committee in Summerville. Student members logged in over 1500 hours of work on this important community project which was conducted on behalf of the Summerville Town Council. The project focused on research and the collection of field data to correct a community-wide survey datum that was established in the 1830s.
