CHARLESTON, S.C., Oct. 27.--Citadel Cadet Captain Michael H. Adorjan of Pickerington, Ohio was presented the Widder Award and the Todd L. Dorney Award during last week's afternoon dress parade at The Citadel. Colonel Walter B. Clark, U.S. Army, retired, Citadel class of 1951, presented Adorjan with the awards.
The Widder Award is given annually in memory of Captain David Widder, U.S. Army, Citadel class of 1959, who was killed in Vietnam. The award recognizes the outstanding distinguished cadet who has exhibited the qualities of devotion to duty, gentlemanly conduct, military and academic excellence, and unquestionable character as determined by peers in the ROTC program.
The Todd L. Dorney Award is given to a senior under Army contract, whose ROTC performance places him in the top 10% of his class. The recipient must also obtain an overall grade point average of a 3.0 based on a 4.0 grading scale. The award is presented annually in memory of Lt. Todd L. Dorney, U.S. Army, Citadel class of 1980.
Michael Adorjan is the son of Mr. & Mrs. John G. Adorjan. He commands F-company at The Citadel. Adorjan is a recipient of a 3-year Army ROTC scholarship. He has also received an award for Ranger Challenge and is Airborne qualified.
