CHARLESTON, S.C., Nov. 1.--The musical group Khenany will present a concert at The Citadel at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, in Mark Clark Hall Auditorium on The Citadel campus.
It is the first for the year in The Citadel's Fine Arts Series and it is free of charge.
Organized in Mexico in 1981, Khenany uses rhythms of salsa, rumba, cha cha, samba, bosa nova and the native music of the Andes mountains to take the audience on a musical tour of Mexico, the Caribbean, Cuba and environs farther south.
They explore the cultures and times of Latin America in a musical journey that is played on dozens of instruments created from wood, bamboo, clay and even armadillo.
The sextet sings mostly in Spanish but also renders songs in Quechua, Yaqui, and English.
