DEVELOPING CHARACTERS: SOUTHERN AUTHORS, SCULPTOR TO SPEAK

CHARLESTON, S.C., Dec. 6.--The Citadel's Daniel Library, the South Carolina Center for the Book, and Chapter Two will team up to present a panel discussion and book signing by four Southern writers: Alexander Ripley, author of Scarlett, Charleston, On Leaving Charleston, and most recently, A Love Devine; Margaret Maron, writer of many mysteries to include Fugitive Colors and Shooting at Loons; Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook; and Art Chansky, The Dean's List: a Celebration of Tar Heel Basketball and Dean Smith.

     The authors will be available to the public on an individual basis to discuss the art of writing and developing characters.

     Also present will be Eric H. Baret, M.D., whose sculptures of bronze Civil War battles will be on display in the Library until Dec. 15.

     The free event will be in the Rare Book Room in Daniel Library on The Citadel campus from 4 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, and will include a reception.
