CHARLESTON, S.C. (September 5, 1995)--The Marine Corps Battle Color Detachment, which consists of the Silent Drill Team, the Color Guard, and the Drum and Bugle Corps, will perform Sept. 13 at The CitadelYUs Johnson-Hagood Stadium.
The Marine detachment visits The Citadel annually as part of its East Coast Tour. Based at Marine Barracks in Washington DC, the detachment performs regularly for the President and other dignitaries.
The Drum and Bugle Corps will begin the ceremony by playing a series of patriotic and popular songs. The world-renowned Silent Drill Team will then take the field, performing such moves as the M-1 rifle toss, the meat grinder, and the mirror drill. Finally, the Marine Corps Color Guard will take center stage and the detachment will conduct a pass in review.
The Marine Corps Battle Color Detachment will begin their Citadel
ceremony at 3:00 p.m. The performance, about an hour in length, is free and
