CHARLESTON, SC (Oct. 17)--Citadel professor and dean Dr. David H. Reilly recently published How To Have Successful Schools, a book that emphasizes the cooperative efforts of parents and teachers.
How To Have Successful Schools describes what steps must be taken in order to make schools places where children are safe, secure, happy, and able to learn what they need to succeed in our society. Forty-seven specific and comprehensive proposals for change are presented and discussed in detail. These innovative proposals address coordinated changes that must take place in public education, teacher preparation programs, and in the governance of the educational system at the state and local levels. Chapters include "Why We Don't Have Successful Schools," "Characteristics of a Successful School," and "What Parents and Teachers Must Do."
Dr. Reilly is Dean of The Citadel's College of Graduate and Professional Studies, as well as professor for the Education and Psychology Departments.
