MESSA hosts discussion of war on terror
The Citadel Middle East Studies Student Association will host Bill Speer, a contractor with the Janus Research Group and a U.S. Army Signal Center Global War on Terror historian on Thursday, Nov. 8 in Jenkins Hall Auditorium.
Speer's address begins at 6:30 p.m.
The presentation will focus on the global war on terror and the role of U.S. troops, specifically the Army, with a focus upon Iraq and Afghanistan. The presentation also will include a brief overview of the history of conflict in the Middle East.
"We attempt, as much as possible, to present a non-political account of the war. We hope to demonstrate what is actually happening on the ground in the Middle East with a focus upon our soldiers from a personal perspective," Speer said.
The meeting, which is co-sponsored by The Citadel Republican Society, is free and open to the public.
