Location changed for Palestinian-Israeli discussion by MESSA

The Citadel Middle East Studies Student Association will address the Palestinian-Israeli conflict at its first meeting of the spring semester on Thursday, March 6, in a new location – Graham Copeland Auditorium in Grimsley Hall.

This is the first in a two-part series on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. This first meeting will cover the conflict from a Jewish/Israeli perspective. The guest speaker will be Morey Lipton of the Jewish Federation and Middle East correspondent for the Charleston Mercury newspaper. The second session will be Thursday, March 13 and will feature speaker Christopher Wright, professor of Middle East History and Islamic Studies at The Citadel.

The meetings begin at 6:15 p.m. and will last approximately two hours. Both are free and open to the public.

The Citadel Middle East Studies Student Association was created in 2007 to foster discussion and knowledge among cadets of the Middle East and related issues. The association’s intent is to create cordial and open discussion and debate regarding various topics related to the Middle East.

“This is a unique opportunity to learn about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and to gain insight into how the conflict is perceived by those involved,” Wright said.
