Memorial service for Cadet Joshua Edwards of Papa Company

At the request of the Edwards family, there will be a memorial service at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 in Summerall Chapel.

The memorial service for Cadet Joshua Edwards is open to the campus community. At the request of the family it is not open to the news media.

Local law enforcement , including Folly Beach Police and the Coast Guard, continues to be on the lookout for Edwards, who was reported missing from campus on Nov. 10 after he missed several accountability checks. Folly Beach police found his vehicle on Nov. 11 but no sign of the 21-year-old Greer, S.C. resident.

Citadel President Lt. Gen. John W. Rosa spoke to the Corps of Cadets on Tuesday about Edwards. Rosa said information Edwards left behind on his computer indicated the cadet was in distress. He encouraged cadets to lean on each other for support and seek out campus counseling resources for assistance during what is a difficult time for the entire Citadel family.

The thoughts and prayers of everyone in The Citadel family are with the Edwards family.

Achieving excellence in the education and development of principled leaders
