A local State Farm insurance agent and a 2009 recipient of the state’s Order of the Palmetto award, McQueeney is a lifetime artist whose works depict the Lowcountry and other world-wide destinations that he has visited. His work includes paintings of The Citadel, Ireland, and various nature and wildlife scenes
McQueeney has been a long-time supporter of community organizations and charities giving his time and energy to fundraising and volunteer work. He will donate proceeds from the sale of his paintings to The Citadel’s Daniel Library Friends.
The exhibit’s opening is timed to coincide with Homecoming 2009 at The Citadel. The McQueeney art exhibit is one of many events taking place during Homecoming Nov. 5-8. Events kick off with a bonfire and pep rally at 6 p.m. Nov. 5.
“Mr. McQueeney's gift to the library is tremendous and we are thankful for his generosity,” said Angie LeClercq, library director. “His lovely artwork, with its bright vistas, will give the Daniel Library an elegant flair for Homecoming weekend.”
