Citadel MBA students prove to be world-class competitors

The Citadel’s Master’s in Business Administration program is again producing outstanding leaders for business and society.

This semester four of the business school’s six teams enrolled in the Global Business Strategy Capstone Course finished in the top 90th percentile among 1,058 MBA teams nationally and internationally. Every semester MBA students enrolled in the Capstone course compete against other MBA programs in an online simulation of running a business. The teams develop a strategy, plan product development, invest in research and development and create marking and finance plans.

During the semester, the students focus on a head-to-head competition with their classmates, but they also have the opportunity to compare their online company’s performance to other MBA programs.

“Being among the top competitors worldwide shows that The Citadel Graduate College’s MBA program has done a good job preparing the institution to compete around the world and has prepared our students to compete in a global marketplace,” said MBA student Ananda Sawmynaden, an international student from Quartre Bornes, Mauritius.

In addition to The Citadel teams, teams from national schools such as Vanderbilt University and Brigham Young University and international schools such as Tongji University in China and the Zagreb School of Economics and Management in Croatia competed.

The Citadel’s top teams are:

Team Andrews (97th percentile)

  • Emily Dalton
  • B.J. Phillips
  • Ananda Sawmynaden

Team Chester (94th percentile)

  • Matthew Dorsey
  • Ross Philbeck
  • Richard Verstraete

Team Erie (92nd percentile)

  • Megan Gainey
  • Katie McCormick
  • Miroslava Milliken

Team Ferris (97th percentile)

  • Samantha Cook
  • Charles Girdlestone
  • Pamela Juranas

All of these MBA students graduated from The Citadel on May 7.
