Our Uncommon Tradition
The Citadel is steeped in history. The military college began in 1842 on what is now Marion Square. The campus was later moved to the banks of the Ashley River, where it maintained its stalwart appearance through the unique architectural elements that remain on the original site today. But more important than the traditional physical elements are the traditional values that are more important though harder to see. Honor, Duty and Respect are the watchwords at The Citadel for all students— including MBA students. MBA students can immerse themselves in this unwavering and admired tradition as they prepare themselves to become principled leaders through the program. With leadership and ethics classes, MBA students not only learn how to lead, but to be lead well; and that’s a tradition that will never go out of style.
