Backed by Uncommon Tradition

I was a Naval officer for nine years and started planning my life as a civilian a year before I resigned my commission. I'm originally from Maryland, but my oldest brother has lived in Charleston for more than 12 years and I fell in love with the city visiting him throughout the years. I ultimately chose The Citadel because its MBA program is accredited — and it’s the best in Charleston. Plus, the campus' military atmosphere felt familiar enough to me as a former service member, yet more comfortable and welcoming to civilians than most other military campuses. I'm currently using my Post-911 GI Bill, and the campus Veterans Office has been a very helpful resource for using the GI Bill for my master’s.

I earned my undergraduate degree in political science, so my business background was limited to the leadership books I read while on active duty. As a result, my first five classes in the MBA program were MBA foundation courses that provided me with a solid start to ensure my future success in the MBA program. I also get great support from my MBA advisor who is always available to meet with me. And I make sure to take advantage of the various networking opportunities available through MBAA socials and The Career Center Career Days.
