mathcertglanceThe Graduate Certificate in Mathematics Education is designed to prepare students to teach college-level mathematics.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES:

The 15 credit hours of mathematics required for the program provide the mathematical background necessary for teaching dual enrollment, community college, and college courses. Also, successfully completed graduate courses may be counted toward Citadel master’s degrees.

EARNING THE CERTIFICATE:

In order to meet the requirements for the certificate, you must:
    - Complete five certificate courses for graduate credit
    - Earn at least a B grade in each course.
    - Complete the courses within three years.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Admission requirements include BA or BS degree with a 3.0 GPA from an accredited institution (including Calculus II) and an MA or MS degree.

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is proud to announce that students can now take all Graduate Mathematics courses virtually, interacting with the teacher and other students in real time, from the comfort of your own home! We now give you the flexibility to come campus for the "on-ground" version of the class, meet with us "online," or even see a recorded version of class when you are unable to attend.

We make the program extremely flexible, allowing you to choose any 5 of the following courses:

How do certificates differ from degrees?

Citadel graduate degrees require up to 12 courses. With only five courses, certificates offer a more direct route to your professional goals.

What will my certificate say?

The certificate will state: The Citadel, School of Science and Mathematics awards [Your Name] a five-course Graduate Certificate in Mathematics Education.

 

*Up to 6 hours of previous coursework or coursework from outside the Citadel may be counted toward this degree.
