Dr. Charles W. Groetsch

Charles Groetsch, Distinguished Professor of Mathematical Science, was the founding dean of the School of Science and Mathematics. A fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and recipient of the Mathematical Association of America’s George Pόlya Award, his research on inverse and ill-posed problems, regularization theory, stabilized approximation and related topics has been supported by grants from NSF, AFOSR, NATO, SERC (U.K.) and other agencies. He has held faculty positions at the University of Cincinnati and the University of Rhode Island, and visiting appointments at leading universities in the U.K., Switzerland, Australia, and Germany. Dr. Groetsch enjoys teaching all areas of mathematics with particular interest in calculus, differential equations, mathematical analysis and applied mathematics.  Blending mathematics, science and history in his teaching is what he likes to do most.
