Political Science professor tops bestseller lists
Political Science Professor Mallory Factor's recent book is currently No. 1 on the Washington Post, No. 6 on the New York Times and No. 3 on the Chicago Tribune bestseller lists for non-fiction.
Released on Aug. 24, "Shadowbosses: Government Unions Control America and Rob Taxpayers Blind," is Factor's account of the role union bosses play in the federal government.
"People think that the labor movement is a subsidiary of the Democratic Party," said Factor. "They are wrong. Today, the Democratic Party is a subsidiary of the labor movement."
In this highly documented account, Factor reveals how behind-the-scenes union leaders elect politicians and control the federal government in an endless cycle of greed and corruption.
Factor is the current John C. West Professor of International Politics and American Government. His spring 2012 course "The Conservative Intellectual Tradition in America" explored the political tradition of modern conservatism in the United States. The course attracted a who's who in conservative leaders who spoke during the semester, including Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, former House of Representatives Speaker Newt Gingrich, Ayn Rand Institute Director Yaron Brook, and former U.S. Attorney General Edwin Meese.
