Dean W. Earl Walker of The Citadel School of Business Administration is proud to announce that Robert E. Freer, Jr. has been named as the first John S. Grinalds Leader in Residence at The Citadel School of Business Administration.

Freer, drawing on a lifetime of experience in government, private practice and as a senior officer and General Counsel of Kimberly–Clark and other corporations, teaches legal and ethics courses to both undergraduate cadet and graduate business school students. He graduated from Princeton and has a JD from the University of Virginia.

Freer is also chief executive officer of The Free Enterprise Foundation, which strives to educate the public on the vital role of free enterprise in securing the blessings of liberty, and the creation of enterprise excellence consistent with the highest standards of ethics and civic responsibility through best practices.

During his career, Freer has served on many corporate boards of for-profit, not-for-profit and public corporations. He is currently on the managing board of Rezfuzion LLC, a Pennsylvania based application software provider for the recruiting industry, as well as Best Orthopedic Medical Services Company (a family venture) and several not-for profit boards. He also served as commissioner of the President’s Commission on White House Fellows for eight years.

As an early leader in the field of responsible corporate governance, he was chairman of the ABA Corporate Governance Subcommittee of the Section of Business, Banking and Corporation Law from 1980 thru 1982 and is a frequent contributor of articles on the role of values in corporate management. Freer has passed the NASDAQ Series 65 examination and is a registered investment advisor.

The John S. Grinalds Leader in Residence is funded by a grant from Brig. Gen. Harvey Schiller, Class of 1960.
