She is also a teacher mentor for Spanish teacher candidates from the College of Charleston. A graduate from the National University of Trujillo (Peru), she received her M.Ed. in Secondary School Administration in May 2005 from The Citadel.

Cox, who is from Buenos Aires, Argentina, has been teaching Spanish at First Baptist High School since 1998. She was a finalist is the inaugural contest last year. She also serves as the school's adviser for the Foreign Language Club and the Foreign Language Newsletter. She was instrumental in founding the Foreign Language Club Scholarship, and she continues the development of special instructional programs such as last year’s “Working Together to Build a Better Future,” a project that served to teach students about the League of Nations, the United Nations, UNICEF, and select Spanish-speaking countries. A graduate of the College of Charleston, she earned her master’s in teaching (MAT) at The Citadel in May 2005.

Peterson, a South Carolina native, has taught at Trident Academy since 2001. Last year she organized and directed a study abroad excursion to Costa Rica where grade 9 through 12 students stayed with local families while attending classes at an immersion Spanish school in the capital of San Juan. Her dynamic and innovative teaching has directly resulted in Trident Academy’s expansion of one Spanish I class to the additional offering of Spanish II, III and IV. Peterson is a graduate of the University of South Carolina.
