Club Lacrosse scores invitation to conference playoffs
The Citadel Lacrosse team’s major upset over the College of Charleston last weekend has earned the club sports team an invitation to the Southeastern Lacrosse Conference playoffs.
The regular season finale on April 21 saw The Citadel beat its crosstown rival 12-9 at Johnson Hagood Stadium.
“This was first time in memory of any of those on the field that the team beat CofC,” said faculty advisor Chaplain Joel Harris. “The win was listed as the No. 13 top upset of the week in the MCLA Division II rankings."
The playoffs are April 27-29 in Atlanta, Ga. The Bulldogs will meet Elon at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 27 at Northview High School in Johns Creek, Ga. A win advances the team to play the winner of the Coastal Carolina - Liberty University game in the Final Four at noon on Saturday, April 28. The SELC championship game is at noon on Sunday, April 29.

“This is a big step for a rising program in Club Lacrosse competition,” Harris said. “Just four years ago the team was playing pickup games on Summerall Field.”
The Citadel has fielded a club Lacrosse team off and on since the 1960s. The team is currently coached by Michael Grimm.
