The first step to volunteering with the American Red Cross is to attend the New Volunteer Orientation and Disaster Services Overview class where students will learn exactly how they can assist individuals affected by disasters. Senior Leadership Integration Seminar (SLIS)
Seniors also have the option of electing to complete their Senior Leadership Integration Seminar (SLIS) on Leadership Day. The Senior Leadership Integration Seminar is a full-day professional development seminar during which cadets reflect upon the value of their moral character and the leadership lessons learned at The Citadel. Further, cadets engage with facilitators and career professionals to discuss how they will apply their learning toward being effective principled leaders as they transition to the next phase of their lives. Finally, cadets consider their duty as Citadel representatives to leave positive legacies wherever they serve in the future. Written reflections produced during the seminar and a personal vision statement are collected and held for distribution to each cadet at a future date after graduation. Completion of the Senior Leadership Integration Seminar is a graduation requirement, however it does not need to be fulfilled on Leadership Day.
The seminar is to be held on dates as determined by the academic department coordinating the event and by the availability of private organizations to host seminar groups, individual student sign-ups for specific seminar offerings, or make up dates that are selected by the Krause Center for cadets who fail to sign up for other seminar offerings.
