Leadership Day
Leadership Day 2012
24 October 2012

In support of strategic commitments to service learning and development of principled leaders, The Citadel has scheduled its second annual Leadership Day (formerly named Heroism Day) for October 24, 2012. On this day there will be no regularly scheduled undergraduate day classes or required formations other than the first and last of the day. All members of the SC Corps of Cadets will enroll and participate in an approved Leadership Day activity. Day students living off campus, graduate students, faculty, and staff are also highly encouraged to participate.
All freshmen will participate in the SHARE program outreach to Innovation Zone Schools and all Juniors will participate in the Junior Ethics Enrichment Experience (JEEE) on this day. Seniors and sophomores will select and commit to one of many approved service, training, and/or service team leadership experiences. Seniors may also elect to complete their Senior Leadership Integration Seminar (SLIS) requirements on that day.
All activities on Leadership Day are designed to engage students in a meaningful educational and developmental process outside of the classroom: learning through service in the community, interacting with diverse populations, training for ethical and skilled leadership, serving as a trained leader for service teams, and/or preparing for service and leadership in one's discipline. Training, accountability, and evaluation of impact (on those served and those serving) will be integrated into all approved activities.
