Columbia businessman appointed to The Citadel Board of Visitors

Columbia businessman James M. McQuilla has been appointed to The Citadel Board of Visitors by South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford.

McQuilla graduated from The Citadel in 1988 with a bachelor of science in business administration and served as an admissions counselor. He received his MBA from Winthrop University in 1994. McQuilla currently serves as chief executive officer of Professional Buyers Advantage, LLC, a certified minority business he founded nine years ago that specialized in equipment and commodities sales, facilities management and construction services and provides management consulting and strategic advisory services to government and corporate clients. He is a frequent speaker to business and higher education groups on economic development, marketing, and government contracting issues.

The Citadel Board of Visitors is composed of 11 graduates of the college - seven are elected by joint vote of the South Carolina General Assembly, three are elected by Citadel Alumni Association members and one is appointed by the governor. All members are Citadel graduates and serve six-year terms.

McQuilla will complete the unexpired term of Jack Douglas, Class of 1992, who stepped down in 2008. McQuilla’s term runs through 2013.
