The 2013-2014 Honor Committee is committed to giving the Corps of Cadets the tools it needs to continue to make honorable choices in their lives. In our world, it is often difficult to live by a code of ethics, yet the training received at The Citadel gives cadets the ability and strength to make difficult decisions in their lives both in and out of cadet life.
From an educational perspective, we recognize the need for progressive and up-to-date training. Over the course of four years at The Citadel, cadets grow, mature, and develop into leaders. The 2013-2014 Honor Committee intends to support that growth every step of the way.
It has been said that Citadel cadets choose "the road less traveled." The Citadel is a place of high standards, duty, academics, and honor. We produce principled leaders. We do this through a leadership development model which stresses the importance of first understanding followership, then progressively gives cadets the opportunity to practice leadership within their respective units, clubs, or teams. Once seniors, cadets have the ability to lead and oversee the operations of the Corps of Cadets. All of this is done within a framework of honor and integrity.
Our Honor Code is fairly simple, "A Cadet does not Lie, Cheat, or Steal, nor Tolerate those who do." This code, while simple, offers the key to living and maintaining an honorable life. Cadets are trained that there is never a situation in which they should participate in, or tolerate, dishonorable activities. These core values of honor and integrity are exactly the values which allow Citadel cadets and alumni to improve their organizations and their communities.
