Bonfire to kick off homecoming events

Homecoming begins at 6 p.m. Thursday at The Citadel and this year will feature a bonfire and entertainment by one of Charleston’s favorite party bands, Plane Jane. Students, faculty, staff, campus residents, alumni and others are invited to take part.

Members of the 2007-2008 Bulldog football team joined Citadel President Lt. Gen. John W. Rosa at last year's bonfire.

At 7 p.m. members of the football team, Coach Kevin Higgins, member of the basketball team and Coach Ed Conroy will join Citadel President Lt. Gen. John W. Rosa for a pep rally. Also on hand will be The Citadel cheerleaders, pep band and mascots. Another feature this year is a bicycle decorating contest for children of faculty and staff.

The bonfire festivities became part of Homecoming for the first time in 2006. All activities take place on Indian Hill and Washington Light Infantry Field near the water tower on the Ashley River side of campus.
