Homecoming is the college's second largest of three big weekends held on campus each year. Parents' Weekend in October is the largest. Corps Day, the annual celebration of South Carolina Corps of Cadets' founding, is held each March.
About 6,300 Citadel men served in World War II and around 282 of those died, according to Charleston news reports from December 1945. Nationally, 16 million people served in the armed forces during World War II and more than 400,000 died.
