Captain Dan Bornstein, Ph.D.

 I am an assistant professor in the Department of Health, Exercise, and Sport Science. My teaching responsibilities focus on exercise physiology, biomechanics, research methods, physical activity epidemiology and measurement, and physical activity policy. My research interests include physical activity policy, use of existing and emerging technologies for promoting and monitoring physical activity, and coalitions focused on physical activity and active living. I have served on the HESS faculty since 2013.

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health, Exercise, and Sport Science. My teaching responsibilities focus on pedagogy, motor development, and motor learning at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Colonel Harry Davakos, D.P.E.

I am a Professor of HESS and my teaching responsibilities cover the fields of Sport Management (directing the program). I teach courses of Sport Marketing, Administration, and Finance of Sports, as well as subjects in Managing Sport Organizations, Fundraising, Public Relations and Promotions, Sport Psychology and Sport Sociology, and I oversee the Field Experiences for the Sport Management students. My research interests are in Student Portfolios, Economic Impact of Sports, Human Resources issues in Sports, and Internationalization of Sports and Kinesiology. Major Dena Garner, Ph.D.

I am an Associate Professor in HESS with my teaching responsibilities focusing on exercise physiology, sports nutrition, adapted physical education, and measurement and evaluation. My research interests include concussion, non-invasive neurologic devices and traumatic brain injury, and the effect of mouthpieces on human performance. I have served on the HESS faculty since 2003.

Dr. Elizabeth Hittinger, Ph. D.

I am a Visiting Instructor in HESS and my teaching responsibilities will focus on exercise physiology, drug and substance abuse, nutrition, and sport nutrition.  My research interests include improving endurance performance in elite athletes, attenuating the effects of altitude on endurance performance, and studying the effects of exercise on pregnancy.  I have been a member of the HESS faculty since 2012.

Captain Sarah Imam, M.D.imam

I am an Assistant Professor in HESS. My teaching responsibilities focus on health-based subjects; advanced physiology subjects which include environmental physiology and exercise physiology, medical terminology and nutrition. My research interests include the neuroscience of musculoskeletal activity and disease, neurotransmitter activity, neurodegenerative disease and aging and its impact on the nervous and musculoskeletal system.  I have served in the HESS faculty since Fall 2015.

 I am an assistant professor in the Department of Health Exercise and Sport Science. My teaching responsibilities include research methodology, measurement and evaluation, and motor development and learning. My research interests include the use of technology in sport and exercise, athlete performance monitoring, and relationships between training, performance, and injury in sport. Major Lori K. Hicklin, Ph.D.

 I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Health, Exercise and Sport Science. I teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the physical education teacher education (PETE) program.  I also serve the School of Science and Mathematics as Assistant Dean for Assessment.  My research interests include assessment and physical activity.  I have been a member of the HESS faculty since 2007.
