Starting Your Application
The Office of Research and Grants provides pre-award services to help you prepare and submit applications for external funding. These services include grant preparation education (workshops, presentations, and individual meetings) as well as assistance locating external funding opportunities. Please contact Leigh Lipscomb if you need assistance identifying funding opportunities. You can also view some potential external funding opportunities on our Grant Funding Alert.
o Get a brilliant idea!
o Identify a funding opportunity,
o Review sponsor guidelines for eligibility,
o Read entire funding opportunity,
o Determine if the funding opportunity is right for you,
• Are you eligible?
• Does your project fit with the funder's goals and objectives?
• Will your costs be allowable?
• Can you provide matching funds, if required?
o Match your needs to the funding opportunity,
o Identify challenges and benefits.
o Identify potential partners (internal and external).
o Conduct a resource analysis.
• Reachable with substantial effort, or
o Make sure that you have enough time to produce a quality proposal.
