Chairman of the board to deliver commencement address
William E. Jenkinson III, a Kingstree attorney and chairman of the college's board of visitors, will deliver the commencement address to The Citadel's College of Graduate and Professional Studies on Sunday, April 30.
Commencement for approximately 215 graduate and evening undergraduate students begins at 2 p.m. in McAlister Field House.
Jenkinson graduated from the South Carolina Corps of Cadets in 1968 with a degree in political science. He went on to get his law degree from the University of South Carolina Law School in 1971 and entered practice with Jenkinson, Jarrett and Kellahan where he remains today.
Jenkinson is a former president of the Williamsburg County Bar Association and American Board of Trial Advocates and is a founding member of the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He was first elected to The Citadel Board of Visitors, the college's governing board, in 1992 and has served ever since. He served as vice chairman from 1997 to 2000. In 2002 he was elected chairman and continues in that capacity today. His great grandfather, father, two brothers, brother-in-law and son are all Citadel graduates.
Jenkinson is a member of The Citadel Foundation Board, The Citadel Alumni Association, the Pee Dee Area Citadel Club and The Citadel Brigadier Foundation. In Kingstree is active with the Kingstree Lions Club, Williamsburg Historical Society, Williamsburg County Development Corp. and Kingstree United Methodist Church.
CGPS is now in its 37th year of providing graduate and evening undergraduate education to more than 1,200 Lowcountry residents in the fields of business, education, humanities, engineering, and sciences. The Citadel also offers the only campus-based accredited MBA program in the Lowcountry.
