Gold Stars for academic achievement will be presented Friday

The academic achievement of Citadel cadets will take center stage during the Friday afternoon military dress parade on Oct. 1, 2010.

Cadets who earned Gold Stars for their academic work during the spring 2010 semester were recognized. Gold Stars are awarded to Dean's List students who have made a grade point ratio of 3.7 or higher. The stars are worn on the collar of the full dress and dress uniforms and above the right shirt pocket of the summer leave uniform.

Presenting the Gold Stars were Citadel President Lt. Gen. John W. Rosa, Brig. Gen. Harrison S. Carter, professor of business administration; Maj. Gen. Stanhope Spears, adjutant of South Carolina and member of The Citadel Board of Visitors; Col. Leo K. Thorsness, president of the Medal of Honor Society and a Medal of Honor recipient; Michael Moody, chief executive officer of Force Protection, Inc., in Ladson, S.C.; and Marco Cavazzoni, vice president and general manager of final assembly and delivery for Boeing South Carolina.
