Seminar explores role of economy on democratic well-being
Free to Choose open to the public
Citadel Business Professors Robert Freer and Bill Woolsey are hosting a weekly Free to Choose seminar, based on the Milton Friedman’s PBS series by the same name that aired 32 years ago. The seminar explores the idea that an economy based on individual freedom is the only long term policy to assure the continuation of a republic.
“The power of a free and creative people unshackled from a demanding state is the prescription for our salvation,” said Freer. “There is nothing that the federal government sees that it doesn’t promise to provide, and there is no price too high for it to demand from us, including our liberty.”
The seminar began May 10 and will continue for 10 sessions on Thursdays at 7 p.m., concluding with the final July 12. The sessions are being held in Bond Hall, room 165, on The Citadel campus and are free and open to the public.
