Grants (Corps of Cadets)

Federal Pell Grants

The Federal Pell Grant program provides federal grants for eligible undergraduate students. Eligibility is determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using a nationally mandated formula applied uniformly to all applicants. Grant amounts are dependent on: the student's expected family contribution (EFC); the cost of attendance (as determined by the institution); the student's enrollment status (full-time or part-time); and whether the student attends for a full academic year or less.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG)

The FSEOG Program provides need-based grants to low-income undergraduate students to promote access to postsecondary education. Priority is given to those students with "exceptional need" (those with the lowest expected family contributions, [EFCs], at the institution) and those who are also Federal Pell Grant recipients.
Eligible students will be notified of their award via Lesesne Gateway.

South Carolina Need-Based Grant Program

South Carolina Need-Based Grants are awarded to South Carolina residents on a first-come basis and to students that show financial need. A student may receive up to $2,500 annually for full time status.

Athletic Grants-in-Aid

The Citadel competes in the Southern Conference in baseball, men's basketball, men's and women's cross-country, football, women's soccer, men's and women's track, women's volleyball, men's tennis, women's golf and wrestling. The Citadel also offers varsity men and women's rifle. The football team competes at the NCAA Division 1-AA level–all other sports are NCAA Division 1.

The Citadel does offer some athletic scholarships. If you are a Division 1-AA level football player or a Division 1 level athlete in any of the other sports, you should contact the appropriate coach. The coaches will need a detailed resume of athletic achievements, letters of recommendation from qualified coaches, and a videotape of you performing in competition to evaluate how you would fit into our program.
