Stephanie McNeill

Corps Grad ’07

Stephanie McNeill, ’07, was the first woman to be inducted in to The Citadel Hall of Fame, which occurred on Sept. 25, 2016. She was born and raised in Summerville, South Carolina, and graduated from Stratford High School.

“I have not thought about it terms of being the first woman,” McNeill said to The Post and Courier from New Orleans, where she is an intern in neurology at Tulane University Medical Center. “But it’s a very special moment for me and a lot of people, and I’m happy to represent that.”

As reported in the article, McNeill, a track and field standout, was the Southern Conference’ female field athlete of the year in 2006 and 2007, and was the Bulldogs’ first female participant in an NCAA postseason championship in the 2006 NCAA championship in the discus and shot put. McNeill was a nine-time Southern Conference champion champ and a Dean’s List student who later graduated from Medical University of South Carolina. McNeill said The Citadel prepared her well for the rigors of medical school and residency.

Additionally, McNeill was featured in a Southern Conference website article marking the 25th anniversary of women’s championships in the conference.
