The Citadel to host freelance writing course for teachers
The Lowcountry Writing Project at The Citadel will offer a three-graduate-hour course in freelance writing for area teachers.
Topics will include how to write and publish travel stories, historical pieces, humor, reviews and other genres, as well as how to market ideas to publishers. In addition to learning how to publish their own work, participants will pick up tips they can share in their K-12 classrooms with students writing for different purposes and different audiences.
Sessions will meet three times each month, twice in the evening from 5:30-8:30 p.m. and once on Saturday from 9 a..m. to 5 p.m. Dates are October 1, 12 and 13; November 5, 9 and 10; and December 3, 6 and 7. Meeting locations include area bookstores, the Citadel Beach House, and computer labs at The Citadel.
The cost is $250. Applications, materials and additional information are available online. Applications will be accepted through September 23.
