Faculty and Staff will have training on new website

The new college website will replace the current website in January. The site was developed by a college web committee and is built with a content management system that will enable people responsible for their department’s website to update information simply and efficiently.

ITS will hold an open house in January to give everyone the opportunity to see a demonstration of the new website templates and ask questions. Following the open house,  ITS will schedule training on a department-by-department basis. Departments will migrate their entire websites into the new system on a rolling schedule depending upon the priorities of the college and their eagerness to convert to the new system. The training will continue throughout the spring semester.

The new website is a work in progress. It is designed to provide our external audiences with a way to more easily find information they need. Over time there will be changes and enhancements to the website but as a first step, it is important to get a structure that is simple for both the end user and for those who are updating information to use.

Changes always present some challenges. The new website is one of several changes that will be taking place over the next two years as we implement new technologies to enhance College administration and communication. While this process will require many on the faculty and staff to learn some new procedures, the end result will be a system that is easier to navigate and provides users the information they need more quickly.

The new website can be previewed at www.citadel.edu/main. Please take a look at it and share your thoughts with us by using the email link on that site.
