Extramural Basketball

Crosstown Challenge in Basketball: This event is a local intercollegiate basketball tournament and is open to all Citadel students (i.e., cadets, day students, graduate students, and evening undergrads).

The Citadel will select two men's teams and one women's team. Each team will play round-robin within its division with top teams advancing to single elimination tournaments.

Tryouts: December 3rd and 5th from 6:00 to 7:15 p.m.

Goals: The Crosstown Challenge provides limited intercollegiate competition for Citadel students. Participants have an opportunity to build successful Citadel teams, and develop camaraderie with other students in the Charleston community.

When: TBD. Likely late January or early February 2014.

Where: Deas Hall, The Citadel

Cadet in Charge: TBD

Prerequisite: Cadets must be academically, conduct and physically proficient. During weeks leading up to the tournament, teams will practice at least one day per week. Practice will begin on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 6:00 p.m.

Cost: ICRA will cover the cost of officials. Participants will pay for their meals (approximately $15).

Other Requirements: Participants must complete a PLAYER PACKET. Packet must be completed and returned to the Extramural Office, Deas Hall 202, by January 21, 2014.

PALMETTO CLASSIC EXTRAMURAL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT: One team will represent the Citadel in this statewide intercollegiate basketball tournament.

Tryouts: TBD

Goals: The Palmetto Classic gives the Citadel an opportunity to send its best players to compete against other colleges and universities from around the state. Participants have an opportunity to further develop an esprit de corps while representing the Citadel in a regional tournament.

When: TBA. Likely mid to late February.

Where: University of South Carolina in Columbia. The Strom Thurmond Wellness Center.
