The Escuincles Project comes to campus
The Citadel’s Modern Languages Department, Sigma Delta Pi and Daniel Library will host The Escuincles Project art exhibit Jan. 29 through Feb. 8 in the Daniel Library.
An initiative of the South Carolina Hispanic Leadership Council, The Escuincles Project is a collaborative effort of amateur and professional Hispanic artists to foster an appreciation of the experience, culture, and struggles of Latino childhood. The artists, including poets, writers, photographers, sketch artists, musicians and painters interpret their childhood memories in their specific art form.
Escuincles is pronounced "skwink les" and is used in Mexico and some parts of Central America as a slang word for kids.
The exhibit is free and open to the public during library hours of 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.
