Ernesto prompts cancellation of Thursday classes
Based on information from the National Hurricane Center and Charleston County Emergency Preparedness Division, projections are that Tropical Storm Ernesto will move through the Charleston area on Thursday afternoon. For that reason, all classes on Thursday are cancelled. Citadel officials do not anticipate a mandatory evacuation order for Charleston County; therefore no evacuation of campus is planned. Cadets will remain in the safety of the barracks during the storm.
Key and essential personnel as identified by their supervisors should report on Thursday and arrange their schedule in order to travel to and from campus safely. As always our foremost consideration is for the safety and well-being of our students and employees.
If parents of cadets have any questions or concerns about this situation, they should contact the Commandant’s Office at 843.953.5003. The latest information will be posted on this website and The Citadel’s DAWG line (953-3294).
The Citadel's Hurricane Op Plan contains the overall hurricane plan for all groups at The Citadel.
