Paul Cantrell named Employee of the Year
Paul Cantrell, energy manager at The Citadel, has been named 2008 Citadel employee of the year.
Cantrell will be recognized along with other nominees and retiring employees during a reception from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. today (Friday, April 11) in the Regimental Commanders Riverview Room and during today’s 3:45 p.m. military dress parade.
Andrea Allen of Human Resources is first runner up and tied for second runner up are Brent Stewart of Career Services and Sgt. Kenneth Greene of the Commandant’s Department.
Cantrell has been at The Citadel since May 2005. He is responsible for controlling and monitoring the campus energy usage, oversees our new Energy Performance Contract, acts as a liaison between the Citadel and South Carolina Gas & Electric Co. and other utilities companies.
The Employee of the Year award is given annually to a member of the staff who has served The Citadel and the community in an exceptional manner.
Cantrell was cited for contributing to the operating success of the utilities division of the physical plant by championing energy reduction measures and environmental awareness. He is vice chairman of The Citadel Staff Council and volunteers in the community and on campus. In November 2007 Cantrell was named 2007 South Carolina Energy Manager of the Year by the Association of South Carolina Energy Managers.
