Edward Warren (Ned) Bray III, MD

Ned Bray MD CitadelEdward Warren Bray, III graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1965 and continued his education with a Master of Science degree from the University of South Carolina (1967) and a Doctor of Medicine Degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1971.  Dr. Bray completed his Orthopaedic Surgery training at Greenville Hospital System and Shriner’s Hospital for Children in 1976 and earned his American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery certification in 1977. As Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at the United States Lyster Army Hospital in Fort Rucker, Alabama and 13 years in private medical practice, Dr. Bray brought valuable knowledge and experience to his medical teaching career. Dr. Bray’s graduate medical education leadership began with teaching faculty appointments at the Medical University of South Carolina, the University of South Carolina, and Duke University while rising to the rank of Professor at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Bray’s leadership extended to Assistant Chief of Staff at the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children in Greenville South Carolina, President of Greenville Hospital System’s medical staff, Greenville Health System’s Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program Director, Chair of Greenville Health System’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, and providing leadership on a variety of local and national medical societies as well as numerous, collaborative  peer reviewed journal publications regarding clinical research.  Dr. Bray currently serves as the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education and Continuing Medical Education at Greenville Health System and serves as the Designated Institutional Official for all graduate medical education at Greenville Health System.
Dr. Edward W. Bray, III, M.D. and Mrs. Bray are active members of St. Mary’s Church. Dr. Bray extends his talents to the community as a previous Greenville YMCA Board Member, current Jr. High Basketball Coach, St. Mary’s Church, and the team physician for the Greenville High School football team.
Dr. Bray and his wife Rose Marie have been married for 37 years and are blessed with three children: Warren (Tennis Professional), Christopher (Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon) and Emily (medical student) with a total of 6 grandchildren.
