HR staffer Dana Richardson named 2011 Employee of the Year
Dana Richardson of The Citadel Human Resources Department has been selected the 2011 Employee of the Year. Richardson will be honored along with faculty and staff who are retiring this year during the Friday, April 8, military dress parade.
Among the prizes Richardson will receive are $1,500, a gift package from Auxiliary Services, one-year free on-campus parking, complimentary tickets from Charleston Carriage Ride and Biltmore House and a plaque.
Richardson, the HR benefits manager, came to work at The Citadel in 2007. A native of Beaufort, S.C., she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Charleston Southern University. A mother of two, she is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated and enjoys reading, listening to gospel and jazz music and traveling.
Dennis Carpenter, director of the campus HR department, nominated Richardson, lauding her work ethic (“the last to leave...to ensure assignments and tasks are processed efficiently”) and the care and consideration she shows employees.
”Everyone at The Citadel is important (to her). She thoroughly enjoys her job and serves with a passion for excellence,” Carpenter said. “Dana is passionate, warm and caring. Citadel employees trust Dana to provide resolutions with the upmost respect and care, and she takes full consideration of their needs and feelings.”
The Employee of the Year and retiree parade begins at 3:45 p.m. on Summerall Field. Retiring this academic year are Ethel Blake, Gene Chavis, Richard Evans, King Ferguson, John Ford, Margaret Francel, Rebecca Frasier, Susan Morris and Jane Yates
